Austin Ditter was a very close friend since elementary school at Hollywood Park, Joaquin Miller, and through C.K. McClatchy High School. We continued our friendship into adulthood. He became an attorney, married and had 3 sons. His eldest son had a wonderful singing voice and performed in leading roles in a number of community performing groups. Austin served as the Vice President of the new adult baseball program named the Sacramento Veteran's Baseball League in 1984. We played on the same team into the 1990's. I valued him as a close and personal friend! Val Lewis
Austin's son Sheldon, was in my office during the last week. He informed me that his dad had passed away last April. I also knew Austin quite well during and after high school. Austin graduated from Duke Law school in 1973. He did practice law in Sacramento for a few years. I had seen him in my office in the last couple of years and he was seriously in declining health. It was no surprise when his son told me the news. I had looked for an obit on line even prior to he son's message, but there was nothing posted.
Sorry to hear this news. I knew Austin from 7th-8th grades at Hollywood Park, Joaquin Miller thru McClatchy, IIRC he lived on Carmen Way, a block over from Stover Way where I lived, we used to walk home down to Irwin Way together, a friendly nice guy. I always wondered what happened to him, don't recall him at any of the 7-8 reunions I attended. Godspeed, Austin.
I am saddened by the news of Austin's passing. He was a close friend during McClatchy High School years. I used to help him keep his MG TD running. I pretty much lost contact with him when I moved to Oregon. I sought him out to reminisce the few times we connected at past reunion events. RIP Austin
